Stars

In the Stars

“I don’t know anything with certainty, but seeing the stars makes me dream. ” – Vincent Van Gogh

We’ve always looked up to the stars and the sky for answers, believed that praying upon falling stars will bring us what we want, found constellations to be the answers to why we are the way we are.

This fascination with stars in ingrained into us and has survived the passage of time. One look at the vastness of the night sky, glittering away with these celestial bodies that seem so reachable and yet so far, our hearts expand with hope and whisper to us how everything we put our mind to is possible.

Throughout time, we’ve used stars to navigate the earth. The North Star, Polaris, has been the biggest ally of sailors, and metaphorically, it tells us with its constant demeanor that whatever it is we’re going through, we’ll always reach home, wherever home is.

Kant believed humans already possess certain knowledge of space, and perhaps we do. Stars have been the source of all our imagination, the resting places of gods, a place of power, of immortality.

Even a casual look at the night sky shows us there’s a pattern there, and from that pattern, we came up with constellations and eventually, astrology, the belief that stars and planets rule and influence us.

From Orion, Ursa Major, Cygnus, to constellations that make up the zodiac like Gemini, Scorpio, Taurus, and others, we’ve found a way of believing that stars are not merely heavenly bodies, but something divine that knows us to the core.

From Stardust to Us

And then, there’s also the magical understanding that we are, after all, made up of stardust. Doesn’t that make you feel special? It’s said that most of the elements that are found in our bodies were actually formed in stars, so perhaps, we are one after all. So, it’s not just hope that stars give us, it’s also belonging. We aren’t alone, we never were. We had a beginning, before which all the atoms that make us were a part of something celestial.

During the darkness, they have guided us. And now, when the world is alight, we still somehow find ourselves stuck in the darkness of life. It is then that they give us hope. They show us that there’s always a way out. And let’s not forget, the sun is also a star and the brightest one as well. With it by our side, we’ll never have to traverse through the dark again.

So, whenever you feel overwhelmed by life and lost, all you have to do is look up at the sky full of stars. It’s a heavenly view, isn’t it? And to give you company during the day, when stars are a sky full of sunlight away, you can gaze into our collection of photographs and feel the intensity, the power of stars, all the way to your heart.

Because, in the end, there’s nothing that helps steer us home, nothing that calms our nerves, better than nature itself.
